The Lion of Judah

In Amos 1:2 we read a passage that states: “The LORD roars from Zion.”The text alludes to a messianic prophecy in Gen. 49:9 that speaks of Jesus as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. In Amos it is a picture of God sounding a warning to the nations. Most of you are well aware of the fact that the Lion is a terrifying animal and often roars when it is about to attack its prey. God/Jesus is given this imagery many times throughout scripture because of the conquering and dominant quality they possess. There is no competition (Rev. 5:5). God will conquer and consume His enemies. Those that are on His side have no reason to fear. The Lion will conquer for them! Those that are not on His side must tremble with fear. Whose side are you on?
